London Fog

The weather in the South Bay has been like a London Fog Tea. The skies are dark and grey, yet warm and welcoming. Being from Los Angeles, I am used to the bright sunny skies, but somewhere between younger Jenny and older Jenny, I’ve developed an appreciation for gloomy days; even rainy days. My favorite thing to do is stay in cuddled in the warmth of my blankets, get a good book or select a movie from my “rainy day” list and let the rain wash the city. Rain stops time. Everyone is no longer in a rush, everyone, naturally, just slows down. Try to observe the world around you next time it rains and see how no one seems to be in a hurry. Observe how the snails come out to make their days journey from one side of the sidewalk to the other, how the birds are tucked away in the trees, how people dress their pups in rain jackets when taking their daily walk. Rain brings peace. When the rain passes and the sun is breaking through the sky, the rainbow appears! As if letting us Angelinos know, “you’re alright. you survived.” No one, except those flipped vehicles on the freeway exits, are in a rush. London Fog has become my favorite drink.
